I have had my hands in clay since college where I majored in art with a concentration in clay. I experienced a long hiatus during my business career and while raising a family. My reintroduction to pottery occurred once I retired to Bluffton, SC., when I took a few classes at Savannah’s Clay Spot in Savannah, GA, built a studio in my SC home, and attended wonderful workshops with Sean O’Connell, Kip O’Krongly and Chris Campbell. My inspiration comes from texture, nature and fabric patterns. I have come to appreciate the Low Country experience and how that translates into glaze colors, textures and shapes. Always searching for new ways to apply texture to clay, I have explored creative ways to produce surface design including sgraffito, carving, silkscreening and monoprinting on clay and mixing and building with colored clays.
